Year 3 - Mrs Mumberson

Welcome to Year 3! laugh

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back to school, all so positive and ready for new learning.

They have quickly adapted to new routines and expectations of Year 3, the beginning of Key Stage 2.

I look forward to discussing your child's progress at our Parent's Evenings. However if there are any queries or concerns before then, please don't hesitate to get in touch via our School Office email  admin@scotby.cumbria.sch.co.uk

Timetable :

  • Monday is P.E. day. Please ensure your child comes to school in navy or dark shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms, school white T-shirts, sweatshirts or cardigans and trainers. Long hair should be tied back and ear rings should be out. If your child has to keep ear rings in, I will cover the stud with tape for the lesson.
  • Thursday afternoon Mrs Cameron will be teaching R.E. and Music Autumn 1 and R.E and P.S.H.E. in Autumn 2.

Homework :

  • Children will have ZPD books which they are encouraged to read at least three times at home during the week. When they have finished the book, they will take a quiz on it before returning. Books and quiz scores should be recorded in their Reading Logs.
  • Spelling Shed logins and passwords have gone home along with a paper copy of the Year 3 Spelling Programme: Autumn First Half Term. Please see an electronic copy below. We have three spelling sessions in school each week, but it is expected that children login at least twice a week to practise the week's spellings.
  • MyMaths tasks are set each Friday and need to be completed by the following Thursday.
  • On Fridays, CLICs and SAFEs will come home. Please take time to go through these with your child. Check any mistakes they have made and celebrate when they beat their last score! If you are unsure of strategies to address mistakes please let me know and I will be happy to share the Big Maths strategies taught in school.
