Home Learning

Weekly homework tasks will be posted here every Friday.

Thank you to all those families who have supported their child in accessing and completing the homework, particularly that set online. This extra learning at home really benefits your child's confidence and progress in school.

Friday 3rd February

We have enjoyed Storytelling week and focused on the traditional tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. If you have time, your child could tell you the story. We made some puppet theatres and acted out the story too. Your child could tell you how we made the theatres and puppets - perhaps you could make some at home to act out a different story!

Please complete the weekly tasks listed below.

  • Vocabulary Homework - As a school we are working hard to extend every child's vocabulary. As well as new words taught in curriculum subjects, we aim to improve children's understanding of ten different words each month. It would be very helpful if you could discuss the meaning of these words with your child. Can you and your child use these words in a sentence? Can you use more than one word in a sentence? Make sure your sentence makes sense! The importance should be on understanding of the meaning of each word- please don't worry if your child cannot read or spell the word independently!

The words for February are listed below:

open

seem

together

next

fire

problem

begin

piece

walk

  • CLIC / LearnIts: Please look at the tests the children bring home every Friday and go over any errors. Please get in touch if you need any guidance!
  • Please read as often as you can, but at least four times a week and on three of these occasions aloud to an adult. The children will bring home their Phonics books and Sharing Books each week.
