Welcome back to our final half term. It will be a busy one no doubt. We have Sports day this month. It will be a short event, as it is one class doing it at a time, but the children will hopefully still have fun.
Mrs Nicholson will be teaching the class on Wednesday afternoons to release me for planning time. She is returning from maternity leave and is really looking forward to working with the class.
P.E will still take place on a Thursday.
If you have any questions then please contact me via email or the school office if it is urgent.
Remote Learning
Use the timetables below to access this week's learning if you are self isolating at home. In addition to these activities there are website addresses on the Home Learning page of the school website which will give you more activities and learning experiences if you wish.
My Maths and Spelling Shed activities are also set weekly as homework so please continue to complete these. We will check these sites regularly to monitor progress.
If you have been given access to Lexia please also continue to complete the weekly activities as part of your homework.
If you need a reminder of logins and passwords for any of these websites please let us know via the class email address.
Here is some useful information about class routines:
Mrs Baxter is our teaching assistant until 11.15 am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She supports small groups in the afternoons.
Mrs Ayad works in our class every afternoon.
On Wednesday our reading books are changed, so please remember to bring in your books to school every Wednesday. You will be given more than one book to read as books will only be changed on that day.
Our P.E. lesson is on Thursday and you are asked to come to school dressed ready for your P.E. lesson. You can wear your normal polo shirt and sweatshirt but please wear suitable shoes and track suit bottoms.
Water bottles should come to school on Monday and be taken home on Friday. They will be washed at school each day and can be filled when children arrive at school.
If you need to contact us at any time please use the following email address and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can:
year2class@scotby.cumbria.sch.uk
We are looking forward to the year ahead and we will work together to ensure that your child has an enjoyable and engaging learning experience at an extremely challenging time.
Home Learning
My Maths: A task will be set every week.
Spelling Shed: Some words will be set weekly for you to practise.
Reading: Please read as often as possible. As well as the reading books you bring home on Wednesday, please read comics, library books, labels and signs so that the children are constantly practising their reading skills.
Big Maths: CLICS and Learn Its will be tested every Friday. Children will bring home their marked test on Wednesday of the following week. Please practise these frequently. Resources can be found on the Parents section of the school website under Remote Learning.
Lexia: If your child is on this program you will have received a letter with all the information you need. Please make sure that they spend some time at home every week working on their current targets.
