This weeks spellings will only be able to play on Spelling Shed until Sunday as our school subscription comes to an end. Years 2-6 are now using a different spelling scheme. Further details about Year 1 spellings will be on this page next week.
As well as Spelling Shed and My Maths activities I will be sending a phonics sheet home with the sounds that your child has focused on this week.Please ask your child to spot the special friends in the word and read the words.
The children are also keen to bring their greater than and less than crocodile home that we have used in maths lessons this week. Please encourage your child to write a number sentence using the sign and read the sentence from left to right. My Maths activities 1D will support this.

Spelling Shed and My Maths have new activities linked to our learning in school. The children have also brought home their reading logs please record in here when they have read both their take home books. I have sent home a reading game to support common exception word reading for you and your child to play as a family.

Year 1 Homework
The children have brought their spelling books home today. Please practise the spellings regularly at home. You can also access your child’s weekly spellings on Spelling Shed. Your child’s login details have been attached to the front of their spelling book.
The children will have their spelling test every Thursday and will bring their new spellings home each Friday.
From Monday, the children will begin their phonics activities in school. They will therefore start bringing their reading books home next week. This week, they have brought home a sharing book to enjoy together at home.
Please ensure that your child’s spelling book and reading book are kept in their book bag every day, so that we can use them in school when needed.
Your child has also brought home a letter with information about our online Maths homework activities. These activities will be linked closely to the White Rose Maths learning we are completing in the classroom, giving the children an opportunity to practise and consolidate their learning at home.
I have also sent home your child’s CLIC and Learn Its so that any areas they may have found tricky can be revisited and practised at home.

The children have made a fantastic start to the new school year and have settled into their new routines really well. They have been busy getting to know the new classroom layout, learning our expectations and becoming familiar with the routines of Year 1.
