WELCOME TO YEAR 2!
I hope you enjoyed some fun and relaxation over the summer break.
The children have returned to school refreshed and ready for work! It has been really lovely getting to know the children over the past few days and seeing them adapt so quickly to a new classroom, routines and expectations. They have made such a positive start!
As outlined in the 'Moving into Year 2' booklet, the children will be with some familiar faces. Mrs Painter, Miss Amos and Mrs Wilson are supporting the children's learning in Year 2. We are also lucky enough to have Mrs Baxter and Mrs Brown to teach Phonics and deliver small group work.
Year 2 P.E. takes place on Fridays. Please ensure children come to school in their P.E. kit on that day.
For safety reasons, earrings should either be removed or covered with tape.
Homework will be set on Fridays and includes the following:
Computer-based tasks
MyMaths activity
Spelling Shed activity
Reading with an adult
Phonics books will be sent home on a designated day, weekly. More information to follow.
Sharing books will be sent home on Fridays.
CLICs and LearnIts
These will be sent home on Friday. Please support your child by reviewing any errors with them—this is greatly appreciated.
Spelling Books
The Spelling Books contain five or six words from the spelling focus set weekly on Spelling Shed. The children will be tested on these spellings on Thursday each week and the tests will be stuck in the books so that you can see your child's results. The Spelling Book should be in the children's book bag so that it can be used to practise at home and school.
If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to catch me at the end of the day when all children have been safely collected or contact me through the
