Year 1 if your child has a secure understanding of place value, I know many do. Try the extension problem task. If they can try to read the problem themselves this is also really beneficial for when they are back in the classroom.

Next week we are going to be looking at some timelines. It is very difficult for children to understand this. To support them with the activities next week I would like them to make their own family timeline. Starting with the oldest member that they know in their family. This might be a grandparent or a great grandparent. Draw a picture and label the oldest person down the time line to the youngest which will be them. For example great grandad( if they know them) grandad, dad then child. You could discuss the year that everyone on the timeline was born and look at the difference in years.
Remember a timeline always runs horizontal, past time to the left and future to the right.
