You can log on to the Star Reader website and complete quizzes at home, so whenever you finish a book, try searching to see if there is a quiz you can do. If you are struggling to find books within your ZPD range, try reading and taking quizzes on the articles which can be found on the Accelerated Reader homepage.
If you have a Lexia or Nessy login, don't forget to keep up with your usage. Try to spread it out throughout the week in short blocks (i.e. no more than 20 mins at a time).
English - SPaG
Please log on to SPaG.com to access today’s grammar task:
Year 3 = Subordinate clauses & conjunctions
Year 4 = Apostrophes & plurals
I would recommend Year 3 work through the Warm-Up PowerPoint below before attempting the SPaG task, and Year 4 you could use the PowerPoint as revision of previous learning.
Times Tables - test your knowledge by logging on to TT Rockstars for 5 or 10 minutes. How many questions can you answer correctly in that time? Can you try to reduce the average time it takes you to answer a question? Try also to pinpoint where errors are made, e.g. do you need to practise a particular times table more? If you would like to work away from the computer, ask someone to set you questions and try to answer them in a given time. Remember to include related division questions too.
Complete the ‘Find and Measure’ sheet. Estimate the length of each household item first (in cm or m and cm) and then measure each item using a ruler or tape measure.
Extension: Revise equivalent measures.
Remember 1cm = 10mm so 20cm = 200mm etc.
Remember 1m = 100cm so 1 ½ m = 150cm etc.
Computing - Logo
Use everything you have learned to write algorithms that will draw 2D shapes, and use those shapes to create a simple castle and sun picture using 2Logo on Purple Mash. (I have set 2Logo as a 2Do.) Most of you took home a planning sketch which you can use for inspiration. Remember to use the 'repeat' and 'procedure' features to save time. You can change the background at the end to suit the image. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished pieces, but don’t worry if you don’t finish today, you can always carry on with it tomorrow.
Watch the BBC Easter story video to recap the main events :
For Passover, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people covered
the path with palm leaves and shouted ‘Hosanna’ and ‘Jesus is the King’.
Many priests and elders were jealous of Jesus. They wanted him arrested.
In exchange for thirty pieces of silver, one of Jesus’ disciples (Judas
Iscariot) went to the priests in secret and told them he would betray Jesus.
The Last Supper
Jesus had a final supper with his disciples called ‘The Last Supper’.
Jesus: Tomorrow I will join my Father in heaven.
Disciples: (sad) We will not let anything happen to you.
Jesus: One of you has already planned to betray me.
The disciples look shocked.
Judas stands up and walks away.
Jesus: (picks up a loaf of bread) This is my body. Take it and eat it and
remember me. Share the bread out with the disciples. (picks up the juice).
This is my blood. Drink it and remember me. Share the drink out with the
The Garden of Gethsemane
Jesus and his friends went to the Garden of Gethsemane after supper.
Jesus was very sad, he knew the time had come!
Jesus: (to the disciples) Stay here and keep a look out while I pray.
Disciples gradually fall asleep while Jesus prays.
Jesus: Father, I wish it didn’t have to be this way but I want to do your will.
Judas returns and approaches Jesus with a crowd of people who lead him
Task: Sequence the key events of the Easter story to retell the story. Use the picture cards to help.
