If you can, print and complete this week’s sheets from Spelling Shed. If you are unable to print you can copy the lists and practise on paper. Remember there are two tasks.
Try to finish your newspaper article about the discovery of the Golden Orb. If you finished your first draft yesterday, re-read and edit to improve your writing. Check your spellings, punctuation and try to extend your sentences to make them more interesting. To present your work, you can use the newspaper template on Purple Mash (within your 2Dos) or type on a Word document which can then be emailed to our class email address.
Log on to My Maths and complete the task set for today.
Y4 = Solving problems by rounding
Y3 = Estimating amounts
We have worked on calculating the perimeter (Year 3) and area (Year 4) of square or rectangular shapes. Remember, perimeter is the distance around the shape (length + width + length + width) and area is the space within the shape (length x width).
Can you calculate the perimeter (and area for Year 4 children) of your garden/bedroom/kitchen etc? If you have a tape measure, try rounding your measurements to the nearest metre. If you don’t have any measuring equipment, simply count your steps around the space, but take your time and make sure you are accurate. What happens if your garden or the room you are trying to measure is an irregular shape? To calculate the area then, remember to split it into regular shapes.
Topic - History
In class, you wrote a letter of application to become a knight, but what other jobs might someone have within a castle setting? Try to find out about some of those jobs. The PowerPoint below can help you start your research. Which job would you most like to take on? You can use the blank template on Purple Mash (check your 2Dos) or you can send me an email to our class page to let me know.
Use the PowerPoint below to help you ask and answer the question ‘Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?’ Start by revising numbers to 31 and the months of the year. Then move on to saying, ‘Mon anniversaire est le…’. Remember, if your birthday is the first of the month, we say ‘premier’ instead of ‘un ’, e.g. Mon anniversaire est le premier avril. (My birthday is the first of April.)
You can log on to the Star Reader website and complete quizzes at home, so whenever you finish a book, try searching to see if there is a quiz you can do.
If you have a Lexia or Nessy login, don't forget to keep up with your usage. Try to spread it out throughout the week in short blocks (i.e. no more than 20 mins at a time).
